Chongqing Tourism Bureau Completes a Successful Promotion Campaign at ASTA China Summit 2017
In order to further open up the tourist market of the U.S., and improve the awareness and influence of Chongqing's tourism in the American market, during the ASTA China Summit 2017, Mr. Qin Dingbo, Vice Director of Chongqing Tourism Bureau, led a delegation with personnel from relevant districts and counties and tourism enterprises of Chongqing to go to Guiyang, whilst carrying out comprehensive exchanges and discussions with over 130 ASTA member agents attending the summit to seek the practical cooperation in the tourism market - the tourism promotion event was themed on "City of Mountains and Waters Beautiful Chongqing".
During their stint in Guizhou province, Chongqing's tourism marketing team met the VIP guests from American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA), and carried out friendly communications and discussions about deepening the tourism cooperation between these two influential tourism organizations and Chongqing.
At the promotion event held on Nov 11th representatives from ASTA, personnel from the tourism and media circles of Guizhou, over 200 people, convened together. A fiery performance, called the Impression of Wulong the Working Song on Chuanjiang, stoked up the atmosphere on site. Vice Director Qin Dingbo introduced to the attending guests Chongqing's tourism overview, its development, incentive policies and the profound historical and cultural relationship between Chongqing and the USA, leaving a deep impression about Chongqing to the participating guests.
In the speech made by Mr. Robert Duglin, Vice President of ASTA, he highlighted in particular that when browsing the CNN website recently, he got to know that Chongqing ranks first in the World's Top 10 Fastest Growing Tourism Cities released by WTTC. He sensed that Chongqing's rapid development in recent years will create tremendous appeal for American tourists, which further increases his strong intention to carry out a tourism cooperation with Chongqing. He also suggested the present American travel agents to take Chongqing as an important stop of their China tour lines, obtaining fervent applause and resonance from the audience.
This promotional event for Chongqing was organized by Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism Group Co., Ltd, also getting positive resonance from various tourism bureaus including Jiulongpo District, Dazu District and tourism enterprises including Hainan Airlines, Golden Cruise, New Century Cruise, and jointly participated by Fengjie County, Wushan County, among others. With the concerted effort, it was a complete success.
The event was fascinating and brilliant. The bilingual hosting and promotion, exquisite marketing pictures and videos, free gifts of panda puppets, lucky-draw prizes provided by various tourism enterprises (including round trip tickets of international direct flights and tickets for Yangtze River cruises) were offered to guests on site.
The US travel agents all expressed their strong interest and affinity about the tourism products released by Chonqing, such as, Three Gorges, Pandas, Hot Pot, the Museum of General Stilwell, the Flying Squad Exhibition Hall and so on. The performance full of heavy Chonqing flavor specially presented by Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism Group Co., Ltd increased the fiery site atmosphere, gaining attention from the crowd. At the same time, the attending US guests were all looking forward to the 2018 New Year Countdown Marketing Event Chongqing was about to hold in New York.
All the live performances in this promotion event were chosen from Impression of Wulong produced by Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism Group Co., Ltd. Impression of Wulong is a large-scale landscape live show created by the "Iron Triangle" team led by Zhang Yimou, Chief Director of 2008 Beijing Olympics and consisting of Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue. The performance site is located at Grand Taoyuan Canyon, Xiannvshan Town, Wulong County, Chongqing, which fully combines with Wulong's world natural heritage resource, Karst landscape and local featured culture. With natural mountains and waters as the background, the show integrates the local people's work and life, folk culture and customs, history and humanities and beautiful legends. This provides the audience with audio-visual enjoyment and spiritual experience which is themed on the culture and mountains and waters.
Wulong has become globally well known in the films and TV production circles due to its unique and magnificent scenery. Many blockbusters from home and abroad took views there and many movie goers were impressed by the landscape there, got to know this amazing place and went to experience Wulong in person.
The Chongqing tourism promotion themed on “City of Mountains and Waters - Beautiful Chongqing” wrapped up the tourism promotion session of ASTA China Summit 2017 (ACS 2017).
